Freddy Adu loaned to Belenenses

abola.pt is reporting that Freddy Adu has been loaned to Belenenses in the Portuguese first division. Hopefully, this means he’ll get more some playing time.

Missing names from U-20 squad

Bryan Arguez.  Giuseppe Nazzani.  Vincenzo Bernardo.  Am I the only one who doesn’t think NCAA soccer is a step up from training with professionals and playing in Italian/German youth leagues?  I can’t help but wonder which one of these kids is going to elect to represent another country because of Rongen’s latest snub… OK.  Maybe [...]

Adu’s career is over?

I was reading a post about Freddy Adu’s club struggles on Avoiding the Drop and came across this line: So we’re left with this reality: Freddy Adu is only twenty years old and there’s a very real possibility that his career is already over. Wow.  Will Freddy Adu make the World Cup roster?  It’s looking [...]

Gyau, Renken to Hoffenheim

Soccernet is reporting that US u17 starlets Joseph Gyau and Charles Renken have signed contracts with German Club 1899 Hoffenheim. The two youngsters, who are generally considered the top two prospects in the u17 squad, will split time between Hoffenheim and the Vancouver Whitecaps youth academy for the next year, before a full time move [...]

Donovan to PSG?

French website Le10sport is reporting that Landon Donovan will be moving to Paris-Saint-Germain on a season-long loan after the conclusion of the MLS season. We’ll see if this turns out to be true, but it sounds like a great move to me.

Man of the Match [8.12.09 vs. Mexico]: Oguchi Onyewu

MAN OF THE MATCH:  This was clearly a two-horse race.  While Charlie Davies did score the USA’s lone goal, he failed to put away his golden opportunity to get the go-ahead in the second half.  Overall, a good performance, but we had to give the nod to Oguchi Onyewu.  He continued his beastly ways in the back, showing everyone [...]

15-year-old Luis Gil to Arsenal?

Young Guns (a blog dedicated to Arsenal’s reserve and youth teams…no, it doesn’t have anything to do with either of the movies…yes, I’m just as disappointed as you.) is reporting that US under 17 standout Luis Gil is heading to Arsenal. Is this true? Who knows, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

[Article Commentary] Trecker: USA, ‘big game’ jinx

Jamie Trecker recently concluded his three-part series on why the USA needed to become the second team ever to win in Mexico City.  Since we failed, US Soccer is obviously doomed.  I’m sorry to keep going at Trecker, but since this is related to the last two I’ve commented on, it seems logical to discuss the final [...]
