In this monthly segment, we attempt to answer the question, “Who should we take to South Africa?” Rather than taking the standard approach (doing our best to guess who Bob will take to South Africa), we focus on who we think Bradley should take.
Another month. Another friendly. Another less-than-stellar performance. The good news is this time around, unlike our game against Honduras, a few players stepped up to the occasion and made their cases for roster inclusion. Who saw their stock rise? Brian Ching and Heath Pearce were the obvious winners, and were rightly taken off the fringe and into the roster in this month’s edition. As bad as Sacha Kljestan was for most of the game, he had a strong finish. It was no surprise that this coincided with move to the left wing and a more attacking role (where he should be played) from central defensive mid (where Bradley likes to play him). No, he hasn’t done enough to be included in the roster, but considering our dearth of good wing options and Robbie Rogers’ drop in form, we’ve put him onto the fringe. Clarence Goodson also looked decent out there, which only solidifies his place on this roster.
