Luis Gil signs with MLS

U.S. Under-17 national team midfielder Luis Gil has agreed to a deal with MLS. Gil had been drawing interest from a number of high profile clubs, including Arsenal and Real Madrid. He will be allocated in a weighted lottery to be held on Monday.

I think this is a good move. It would have been great to see him go to a big club, but as we’ve seen with a number of other young Americans, it doesn’t always pan out. Hopefully, this will mean more playing time for Gil.

Luis Gil to Arsenal not a done deal

Soccer by Ives is reporting that Luis Gil’s move to Arsenal has not been completed. Gil has received interest from other European clubs and is looking to turn his trip to the U-17 World Cup into a new contract.

15-year-old Luis Gil to Arsenal?

Young Guns (a blog dedicated to Arsenal’s reserve and youth teams…no, it doesn’t have anything to do with either of the movies…yes, I’m just as disappointed as you.) is reporting that US under 17 standout Luis Gil is heading to Arsenal. Is this true? Who knows, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
